You don't cash out on the spot? WTF

Take 3 years of either taking your paycheck out of the taxi fares or just walking to the cashier at the casino. There. You did your work, you got your money.

Now. Somebody tell me who the hell designed paychecks to arrive 1 month after you've been working? WTF is up with that? Isn't it terribly inefficient to inform sixteen people I've actually been working, get them to move their asses towards their 17" LCD:s, remove the obligatory expenses like tax and pencil rental from your hard earned salary and then design a complicated process of moving the money around until it finally reaches your goddamn account?

So I gave up this hourly pay-crap. Try to manage on the student support system.. I really gotta get back on the poque-scene, this is killing me!

I was leaving Helsinki yesterday and decided, against my habit, not to jump a red light. Turned out that the person crossing the road was an age old friend of mine. I pulled over and caught up with her. We exchanged numbers and chatted a bit, but I kinda left thinking that I wouldn't see her for a long time again. But, for my surprise, she texted me last night, asked if I'd wanna grab a beer. Hell yeah, I thought, and packed up my card dealer job at Roihuvuori.
So we got together at this horrid place called Molly Malone's. Seriously, you really gotta be some sorta genious to actually design these Irish pubs. Labyrinth type interior with the only available table next to the bathroom door. It soon became available again after I realized my sense of enjoyment was severely crippled by the smell of big ugly men having a piss 2 meters away.

After my dash cunning side gave its best and we got a better table, the night, late as it was, seemed to pass lightning fast. I really gotta give her a call again some day. Never got too many good friends whom with you can babble on for hours on end.

One last time..

Count this as my first blog entry and summary of my last night out on the old cab ride.

I've been thinking about this blogging business for a while, but haven't got around to it. Mostly because it seems like one of those wannabe-trendy type of things only Mac-users with pink Audi TT:s do. But here I am. I'll probably get some shit for this once people find out.

Right. Got around to the cab something like 3 hours late. I figured what the hell, I'm gonna be out there until the morning, why not make the best of it and have a sauna with my friends first. Had a nice time watching the old captain make an ass of himself and lose to me at Forza. I later drove the guys to the city.

Helsinki was quite overbooked that night. Alotta people, alotta fares, I thought. A nice change of pace, since July had otherwise been way too quiet. But goddamn that VW Passat. 150tkm on the odo and amongst other things it had broken its engine suspenders, the flywheel had a bad rpm sensor, the ride is horrible, overall quality is awful, the front left speaker doesn't work, and the brakes wear out after 3h of taxiing (granted with my driving is quite a rough experience for the car). But the absolute worst is listening to a broken seatbelt sensor which doesn't believe your seatbelt is fastened when it actually is and destroys your ears with this horrendous beeping sound that keeps going and going and going every goddamn time you start the car.

Survival of the fittest?

So I picked up a couple of girls off the side of the road. Why not, they seemed decent enough. "Follow that cab!" they shouted together. This phrase hadn't made me laugh since grade school so I smiled and okayed them. I did laugh, however, when the girls started talking about (some guys apparently) in the cab I was following. "I'm gonna take the one with the white shirt, you take the one with the long hair, ok? And let's not fight over this later." I mean seriously. What kind of guys really hang around chicks who make their pick on the cab ride before the party?

Godspeed?

Later I was making my crossing over Hämeentie to Mäkelänkatu and I saw the first peculiar sight of the night. This guy was walking, and I gotta emphasize walking, since he was walking and not running, but at an incredible speed. He was wearing not a track suit, but one of those road workers overalls which had reflective surfaces on the heels and upper back. Some drunk friend of his was trying to keep up with his walking couldn't because of the incredible speed.

Nöykkiön tallit?

Ok, I'm not gonna go into detail about the huge tips I got that night. People were overly generous, which I'm thankful for. One thing that is worth writing about was my coffee stop at Shell Suomenoja. I picked up a hotdog (which I couldn't eat since my removed wisdom tooth was still giving me crap) and went to stand around the VW. To my surprise, some weirdo walked literally out of the bushes and stood on the other side of the car. Looking at me with a stare of "what should I say to a cab driver having his lunch if I'd like a ride". I had no intention of loosening the atmosphere and stared back at him with my look of "you do realize that I am a cab driver having my lunch break". I got bored with exchanging glances and said hi. The guy had this overly awkward feeling about him the minute he stepped in, but I didn't feel it to be anything dangerous.

Nöykkiön tallit, he says. I think about it for a minute and ask him to guide me there, because to my knowledge, there aren't any stables, horse or otherwise, in Nöykkiö. So the guy starts pointing out directions. After riding around half of Espoo I start to realize the guy has no idea where he's taking me so I make a quick call to 020202. They have no idea about stables in Nöykkiö. I ask for an address. No clue. Phone numbers? No clue. Name of the place? No clue. I finally rip some information out of this donkey: Enkeleiden tallit. Pieces started forming around each other in my head. So he wasn't exactly talking about a riding farm with horses and shit, but none other than the Hells Angels Headquarters. I happened to know where that was so that's where we went. The whole thing ended with me getting shot in the head. You wish.

So we sat at the gates to this place for like 10 minutes. I had no intention of hurrying the guy out, I didn't feel like aggravating him. But I did have a job to do so I asked how long we were going to sit there. "You going to Helsinki? Could you take me to the railway station?" So off to the railway station we went.

Great gig. Something like 60e for a roundtrip of Espoo and getting right back to the centre.

POKER

Poker hasn't been good to me the last month. My first deposit at FTP didn't exactly win me much respect regarding my claims that I could beat the game. I had no idea the players would be as manical as they are. That took a bit of adjusting, had to reel back my overaggressive style, which I use against the Europeans, and let the other players bet into me while I had the nuts. And I seem to be hitting coolers and bad beats much more often than I do on PAF and PokerStars. I'm gonna get back to this subject when I get my school going and some loose cash I could play with. I was planning on making this my place to whine about bad beats and such, but I don't think any of you would be interested in that. Let's just say I'm beginning to doubt I'll ever make a profit at poker and starting to believe Full Tilt is rigged against bonus hunters. The former a phrase I'll regret ever putting into writing, and for the latter, people will probably hit me with big hammers.
But I am a live player by heart, and that's how I got into this game. I'll try now to put together a roll and focus on the live games around Scandinavia and Estonia.

SCHOOL

I actually got into a business school. Not HSE (yet), but then again I never even applied. The place is called Haaga-Helia and the graduate is a tradenomi. Which I guess is the equivalent of Bachelor of Business Economics something or other.

I was amazed at the amount of beautiful chicks around here after the years of agony at HUT and I'm looking forward to all the parties. People probably see me as the weird guy who's 2 years older than everyone else and acts 6 years younger than anyone else. And that's just probably my mind playing tricks, I've had a lot of fun with the blokes around here.

There. If you actually read this far, your life must be more boring than mine.
